Rhinoplasty And Its Origin
Rhinoplasty is the medical term for nose enhancement or nose reconstruction. Rhinoplasty is an age old medical practice, which has its origin in Ayurveda, ancient Indian medical science. Charaka, the famous Ayurvedic practitioner from India, first pioneered this technique and then followed by many others. Nose is one of the most prominent parts in our face, so an imperfect nose will be quite noticeable to others. Rhinoplasty hence can give back the confidence to the patients.
Nowadays even models or actors who seek perfect face to sustain in their respective profession opt for Rhinoplasty. It has become an increasingly popular cosmetic surgery. People, who have droopy nose, hump on the nose bridge, or extra large nose can reconstruct their nose and can get a more adorable look. Rhinoplasty has some limitations as well. Some people do not understand it and expects the moon from the surgery. Rhinoplasty does a minor alteration but even that gives a positive effect on the face.
There are many reasons for which a patient undergoes a Rhinoplastic surgery. More serious is breathing problems caused by the defectively formed nose. This surgery can improve the breathing capacity but before that one has to consult doctor and should know whether there is any non surgical option available. This surgery will be beneficial to those people who have nose defects by birth, or caused due to serious illness like cancer and in many cases because of the accidents. A skilled surgeon can cure almost all nose defects and can restore a normal look thus solving the emotional trauma caused by deformed nose.

Many people choose this surgery mainly for aesthetic reason and thus to enhance the looks. The people related to entertainment industries are most frequent clients. Though this is a nose surgery, yet it augments the beauty of lips, eyes and in general entire face itself. Men and women both undergo this surgery. Children under 18 are not allowed to do this surgery as their facial bone growth may not be complete at that age. Sometimes there may be some complications like swelling in the entire face and in some cases it takes longer time to recover.
There are several approaches and techniques involved in Rhinoplasty. Two popular approaches are open and closed Rhinoplasty.
In closed Rhinoplasty, surgery will be inside the nose and scars must not be visible. In open surgery both internal incisions and external incision have to make across the columella (the nostril partition).Sometimes this leads to a very small and unnoticeable scar sometimes. Generally it is a practice to apply anesthesia before doing this surgery and patient will not be aware of the pain associated with it. Normally surgery takes two hour and patient can go home after that. Within a week they can make a complete recovery.
If a patient is not satisfied with the Rhinoplasty of a certain doctor he/she can undergo Rhinoplasty revision, and it is a bit more complex. This sometimes can be painful and ends in swelling around eyes that may take some time to heal. Rhinoplastic surgeon apart from being a competent surgeon needs to be a lover of aesthetics as well. Only then he can retain the lost glory of the face in general and nose in particular.
