Information About Rhinoplasty Procedure
Rhinoplasty is one of the oldest surgical procedures performed to reform the nose. The reformation can be any type, increasing or decreasing the size of the nose, changing the shape of the nose to get an improved appearance, reshaping the tip of the nose or bridge, eliminating bumps on the bridge, releasing the position of the nostrils and other structural abnormalities. These abnormalities can be treated effectively using this plastic surgery technique. Rhinoplasty surgery was first introduced around 500 BC but still some of the oldest techniques like reforming the nose with the skin flap from the forehead are popular with the modern techniques.
The defects in the nose can be a congenital one that is right from the birth or due to an accident. Other conditions like breathing impediment due to deformed nose, snoring problems during sleep, and problems caused by trauma are also treated by performing rhinoplasty surgery. If the surgery is performed to increase the aesthetic requirements then it can be called as cosmetic surgery. On the other hand if it is done for reconstructive purposes then it is called as reconstructive surgery. Both the surgical procedures have now become very common and popular all over the world.
There has been a phenomenal improvement in the surgical methods since its origin. Anyone above the specified age requirements that is for male above 15 and female above 13 can undergo this rhinoplasty procedure. Below the specified age the growth of the nasal bones will not have been completed and that may result in other complications. If you are thinking of receiving a rhinoplasty surgery, it is better to go for it when you are younger. This is when the reformation after surgery will be very quick and the person who undergoes it can avoid other side effects. Persons with chronic infections and allergic to antibiotics are not advised to undergo this surgical reformation method.

The rhinoplasty surgery can be done in two ways: Open rhinoplasty procedure and closed rhinoplasty procedure. The surgery techniques are classified based on the type of the incisions to reform the nose. Closed rhinoplasty as its name suggests the incisions are made inside the nose. This surgery technique is suitable only for minor problems such as removing bumps in the bridge, minor correction in the size or shape and removal of excess soft tissues inside the nose. The main advantage in receiving this technique is that it will not leave any external scars and recovery period after surgery is very less compared to the open rhinoplasty technique.
Only a qualified and professional surgeon can decide which type will type will suit the patient's complication. Open rhinoplasty technique is always the second option since it involves more number of incisions that may leave a scar. But major problems such as reshaping of bulbous nose tips, breathing problems inside the nostrils and other birth related problems can be treated only through this technique. The number of days to recover will be more since it involves an incision across the columella region. The scar is not a permanent issue and it will fade away when treated properly.
